Feel free to bring personal items that will help you feel at ease and at home if you're staying in the hospital overnight.
Personal Items and Toiletries
You can bring your own toiletries, bathrobe, slippers and pajamas, but you are responsible for your personal items. Label containers and cases with your name and keep them in your bedside stand when you're not using them. Please don't bring electrical appliances unless they are battery operated or cordless.
Cell Phones
Cell phones are allowed in some departments and units, but it depends on the type of equipment being used. If you think you'll need to make long distance phone calls, bring a calling card with you.
Valuables
Don't bring valuables or a lot of cash to the hospital. If you do, send them home with a family member or friend, or ask your nurse to place them in the hospital safe. Spectrum Health isn't responsible for valuables that aren't deposited in the safe.
If you believe an item is missing, tell your nurse immediately and our staff will make every effort to help find it. Unclaimed items are turned in to security and kept for 45 days. To ask about a missing item, call (616) 391-1425 if you stayed at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital or Meijer Heart Center, or (616) 774-7620 if you stayed at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital.
